I’m Sarah Poirier, LCPC, a licensed psychotherapist and proud UNLV graduate based in Las Vegas. I founded Moonrise Therapy to help people who grew up in chaos to be able to find calm in life. As an adult child of an alcoholic, I understand the survival patterns that once kept you safe but now leave you exhausted, anxious, or disconnected.

In my work, I blend clinical training with lived experience to create a space that feels real, safe, and judgment-free. My style is direct but compassionate, I don’t just nod along, I help you untangle what’s underneath and guide you toward lasting change. Together, we work to rewrite the old story, reconnect with who you truly are, and build a life that finally feels like your own.
My Story
Growing up in a home with dysfunctional family patterns with absent parents, whether disconnected due to alcohol use or their own over working patterns, I learned the difficulty of relying on others. With the lack of guidance in the world it caused perfectionism with an inherent belief of I wasn't good enough.
I wasn’t able to set appropriate boundaries with others.
I was consistently stressed and overworking to prove myself.
I let people take advantage of me and lived a life of disconnection.
I wanted to find an inner balance, but I didn't know I was repeating the patterns I grew up in.

I learned how to cope with the world around me better, I got reconnected to myself, I learned it's okay to say no without feeling a gut wrenching guilt. I learned that it was okay to be me and be in my body. The most important lesson I learned through my healing was that I am good enough.
After finishing my master's program in clinical mental health counseling, I started out working in an acute psychiatric facility, and quickly saw the different patterns that were apparent in people with traumatic childhoods.​ This started me on my journey to learn more about trauma-informed care to help others with deep rooted childhood trauma-specifically those with attachment wounds. Whatever your coping looks it could be overworking, perfectionism, rescuing, dissociation or numbing it out, it’s all very similar. You're just trying to get through this life with a nervous system that is unregulated.

Fast forward to today I'm a dog & cat mom that loves the outdoors. I've learned to create a healthy balance with my family and friends to learn trust and learning to accept help from others. I love traveling and exploring new cultures, being in the mountains hiking, and reading during my relaxation time.
