Ready to stop feeling trapped by your past or start living on your own terms?
You've done the reading. You've probably figured out that the anxiety, the relationship patterns, the way you can never quite relax, it has something to do with how you grew up. But understanding it hasn't made it stop.
That's exactly where I come in.
My name is Sarah Poirier, CPC. I provide virtual therapy for adults across Nevada who are healing from childhood trauma, emotionally neglectful or dysfunctional family dynamics, and anxious or avoidant attachment patterns. Using EMDR and attachment-focused therapy, I help you get out of survival mode, so you can feel safe in your body, calm in your relationships, and free from the cycles that keep repeating no matter how hard you try to change them.
Unlike one-size-fits-all therapy programs, every step we take together is built around your specific history, your nervous system, and your life. We don't just talk about your patterns, we actually work to change how your mind and body respond to them, with practical tools that create real, lasting results.

My Story
I know this road because I've walked it myself.
I grew up in a home where the adults weren't emotionally available. I became a perfectionist. I overworked to prove I was enough. I had no idea how to say no without that gut-wrenching guilt. And for a long time, I didn't realize I was just repeating the patterns I'd learned as a kid to stay safe.
That realization, and the healing that followed, is what led me to this work.
After completing my master's in clinical mental health counseling, I began my career in an acute psychiatric facility, where I saw again and again how unresolved childhood trauma quietly shapes adult life, through anxiety, people-pleasing, emotional numbness, and relationships that never quite feel safe. I've spent my career learning everything I can about trauma-informed care so I can help people like you do more than just cope.
When we work together, you won't just get a trained therapist. You'll get someone who truly gets what it's like to be an adult still carrying what happened back then, and who will walk with you every step of the way.
I work best with the ones who've always felt a little outside the box, the black sheep, the overthinkers, the people whose humor gets a little dark when life gets heavy. If you've ever made a joke in a situation where you probably shouldn't have, we're going to get along just fine. I'm not a blank-wall, how-does-that-make-you-feel therapist. I'm direct, I skip the fluff, and I believe that laughing at the absurdity of being human is sometimes the most honest thing you can do in a session. You'll get real insight, real talk, and a space where nothing about you is too weird, too much, or too complicated to bring in.
